When I ask parents if they put their baby down awake, they generally believe they do. However, what they don?t realise that while the baby may look like he is awake, he has already begun reaching that heavy-eyed, falling asleep stage while feeding, sucking on a dummy or been rocked. In reality, he has been aided into slumber. Therefore, when it wakes during the night, it wants that same help to get back to sleep.
